IND AUS Delhi Test Pitch Report: IND vs AUS Delhi Test
|
After a demolation test match between India vs Australia which India won by an excellent performance. Now it is time for 2nd Test that is set in India's capital city Delhi in the Arun Jaitley Stadium has historically had a spin-friendly wicket with plenty of runs on the first two days.
With Delhi climate already warming up, the conditions will remain dry. Hence, Pat Cummins & Co can expect another turner in Delhi. To prepare for that, Australia will have two-day break just to get over the fact that the World No 1 Test side has lost two consecutive Tests in Asia by an innings. The last time they were in Asia, Sri Lanka handed them an innings and 39-run defeat.
IND AUS Delhi Pitch Report: Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium is notorious for assisting spinners and handing batters early advantage. The average first innings total is 342. In the 4th innings, it goes down to 165. The way Australians have tackled Ravichandran Ashwin & Co, Australia can expect another round of spin demolition in Delhi. The low bounce on this track will make it difficult for batters to play good shots.
Last Match at Arun Jaitley Stadium: Australia won’t be boosting any confidence if they look at the last scorecard, in an ODI match. India demolished SouthAfrica in the ODI in October last year. Proteas folded for 99 runs with spinners bagging 9 wickets in the match. Kuldeep Yadav especially was the star with four wickets.
Pat Cummins has already sounded warning to the batters. With Travis Head likely to be back along with Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc, Australia will strengthen the side. But it is their batting that looks off.
Australia Squad: David Warner, Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne, Steven Smith, Travis Head, Alex Carey(w), Pat Cummins(c), Nathan Lyon, Scott Boland, Todd Murphy, Mitchell Swepson, Peter Handscomb, Ashton Agar, Mitchell Starc, Matt Renshaw, Cameron Green, Lance Morris
“A lot of it was good bowling, two masters of their craft, fresh legs, they bowled really well. In saying that I don’t think much is going to change in the next couple of games. That’s what we’re going to come against, so we have to find better methods. You saw Smithy and Alex Carey at times put the pressure back on the bowlers. I think it takes a bit of bravery, it’s easier said than done,” Pat Cummins said after the 1st Test.
